My Vote

There is only one important vote for registered Republicans today: for or against John McCain. I believe that if McCain is not stopped today, with the support he gets from independents he will be the next President.

I voted for Mitt Romney as the best, last chance of stopping John McCain. This does not mean I want Romney in November. It doesn't mean anything about Romney. I don't care about Romney. I just want to stop John McCain.

OK, I understand your reasoning - but are you supporting ANY of the viable candidates in the general election?

I'm waiting until the candidates are decided upon to figure that out.

Looks like Mitt lost to Mack in California 44% to 21%. I guess it's all hail to the new "Shining Knight" - President Feelgood Obama. I can't blame Americans. I'm sick of big-government Republicans too.

Sorry Myrhaf. I voted for McCain. Of all the major candidates in both parties, he's the only one who's even remotely a fiscal conservative.

A vote for Romney is a vote for socialized healthcare. I don't recall McCain ever supporting that.

While McCain is not an ideal candidate by any stretch, he's the best one running at the moment. There are MUCH worse choices out there.

John McCain is a big government conservative. He is the only conservative who would expand the government and increase spending on principle. (The others increase spending also, but hypocritically, not as a moral crusade.) If he is a fiscal conservative, then that term is meaningless.

Worse, John McCain is a statist who believes the state's role is to give the collective something to sacrifice for. He believes that morality is tied to sacrificing for a cause greater than self-interest. His philosophy of government is a complete repudiation of the individualism and limited government of America's 18th and 19th century heritage.

No offense, Ed, but I attribute your support of McCain to your inability to think in principles.

While I agree with you in principle, the same things could be said of ANY of the other candidates, Romney included.

If it's any consolation, I might vote third party in November, depending on the third party candidate.
