Light Blogging

1. Swamped at work. I have some 20-24 hours of work to do in the next 28 hours. Plus I have to hassle with year-end performance review. For someone who supports capitalism, I do poorly with corporate BS. I quit my last job when they started scheduling “diversity training.” There were other factors involved in my decision, but that was one consideration. I didn’t need the job that much. Light blogging this week.

2. Hugh Laurie, the actor who plays House, also played Bertie Wooster on the BBC Jeeves and Wooster series. Talk about range! Can you think of two characters less similar than House and Bertie Wooster?

3. What's worse, Britney Spears not wearing underpants in a dress or a radio morning show that talks about it for half an hour?

4. "It would be a hard government that should tax its people one-tenth part of their income." -- Benjamin Franklin

"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -- Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin's America is long gone.

I always wondered how you train an adult in "diversity"? Mind you, I am referring to true diversity, not the "affirmative action disguised as diversity" that most places promote.

As for the Franklin quotes, this ain't your founding fathers' America. :P

Yes, Laurie has my deepest respect, as Bertie Woosteris one of my all-time favorite characters. Wodehouse is a giant, in my estimation. Can't discount Stephen Fry [Frye??] as Jeeves, either. That series is a once-in-a-lifetime masterwork.

Light blogging? Heck, your blog makes mine look like the Sahara Desert.

As for corporate B.S., it's oftentimes because I am a capitalist that I hate what I see going on in so many businesses. When I was doing freelance technical writing and training, I saw inside a lot of corporations. Gack! Now when I struggle with my fiction, sometimes I just have to remember what that was like, and it calms my nerves. :-)

You mean there are companies that DON'T force you to do this? I need a new job.
