Sick As A Dog

I have caught the bug that's going around. I took the day off from work and called in sick to tonight's rehearsal.

I don't often get sick. I've gone years and years at a time without catching a cold. I think tonight's rehearsal is the first I've ever missed.

When a cold or flu (what's the difference?) does hit, I feel miserable. There is nothing I know of that you can do about a cold except sleep and drink water and endure.

I caught a really bad one once in NYC. Of course, I refused to go to a doctor. I think that one lasted like six weeks, which makes me think it was influenza. That was the worst I ever had. I was young then. Today I have to think it would be even worse.

Speaking of viruses, I see Hillary Clinton won in Texas and Ohio. Republicans must be delighted. I don't think it matters who wins, Obama or Clinton, as neither can beat McCain. I keep reading about how this is the Democrats' year and no Republican can possibly win, but I'm dubious of all that.

From what I can remember, if it lasts six weeks it probably WASN'T the flu. Flu is more severe, but it usually doesn't last as long as a cold.

I ran across a list of symptoms to help you tell a cold from a flu a few years ago, but all I remember (I think) is that if you have severe body aches, a suddenly spiking fever, or a severe non-productive cough, it's time to worry about the flu and see your doctor. They can't cure the disease, but they can treat the symptoms and prevent you from dying.

And people do die from the flu. Granted they're usually very young or old.

Hope you feel better soon. It's been a nasty cold/flu season. Although I see you were feeling well enough to joke about Hillary!

I know what you mean. I usually just get some kind of "bug" about once a year for a week, and that's it. Let's hope that trend continues and that you get better a.s.a.p.
As an aside, I don't see McCain winning at all. It'll be close, as is the pattern lately, but the Dem should pull it out this time. Don't discount the hatred of Bush by the tens of millions of functional illiterates that pass themselves off as American citizens today. That hatred will carry over to McCain, in my observation. It doesn't really matter who "wins" America loses.

Also, the Dems dont *need* to win - they have the Republicans (who they keep prompting leftward) to implement their statist policies.

The same can be said of Nader relative to the Dems.

Hope you feel better soon, but at least "Sick as a Dog" is a great Aerosmith tune!

Thanks, all. I slept 15 and a half hours yesterday.

As for political predictions, I should have learned by now in this crazy season to give them up.
