…I was the darling of the so-called left as long as I limited my protests to George Bush and the Republican Party. Of course, I was slandered and libeled by the right as a "tool" of the Democratic Party. This label was to marginalize me and my message. How could a woman have an original thought, or be working outside of our "two-party" system? This I believe is accurate. There are many in the Democrat Party who hate the Republicans more than they oppose war or America. If a Democrat were president, no doubt many on the left would support this war. Likewise, some in the Republican Party would find reasons to oppose the war in Iraq, simply because it is a Democrat war. (Perhaps they would oppose it for a good reason: that Iraq is a waste of time and we should be going after Iran and Saudi Arabia.) That’s party politics.
However, when I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the "left" started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used. I guess no one paid attention to me when I said that the issue of peace and people dying for no reason is not a matter of "right or left", but "right and wrong."
Good-bye America ...you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can’t make you be that country unless you want it.What is the country that she loves? Canada? France? Venezuela?
It’s up to you now.
Is she really gone for good? Don’t count on it. This letter marks the beginning of her money-making period. Now she will write books and give speeches, all for a fee.
The leftist idea that the American people are mindless sheep, manipulated by the lies of the corporate media -- an idea Gore expounds in his latest book -- lends itself to this kind of defeatism. Leftists do not think reason works with people blinded by capitalist greed. They think crusades such as Cindy Sheehan’s are doomed to fail and deep down they are certain that only force will work. Power is the only path to change in the leftist imagination. Crusades and protests are merely noble, Byronic gestures that at best illustrate the hopeless corruption of America. Cindy Sheehan’s failure serves as further justification to the left for expanding the power of the state -- as long as leftists do the expanding.

I think she is also bitter about the fact that she has grasped on some level that she was but a useful idiot to the agenda pushers in the media and elsewhere - and when she ceased being useful, they dropped her as quick as the flavor of the week. For a person like her who very obviously began to live for the attention and the media spotlight, awarness of this reality must really sting.
I find Cindy Sheehand to be a very contemptable individual who basically cashed in on her own son's death in order to promote her very evil and totalitarian ideological agenda. But left to her own devices, she is more pathetic than anything - an out of control emotionalist stewing in her own rage.
Cindy Sheehan was nothing more than a creation of the Leftist media. I will bet you ANYTHING that when we had troops in Bosnia, some grieving parent probably showed up at the White House entrance demanding an audience with Bill Clinton blaming him for the tragic death. I am sure the same thing probably happened with Johnson and Nixon during Viet Nam and Roosevelt and Truman in World War II and Korea. And, I will bet that in every single one of these cases, so long as the person was not an objective threat to the president's safety, the Secret Service probably called some people in white coats to pick them up and help them. The news media, if they were even aware of it, would not have considered it to be a story worth publishing. It would have been little more than a sad story about a single person's tragic suffering. Of course, in those instances, such people were not useful for promoting an agenda. Sheehan was useful - so they made her a celebrity. And when she was no longer useful to the storyline that was useful to craft and create - well, the same people who made her stopped pointing cameras at her.
Last time I saw anything from Sheehan was many months ago while driving around and Sean Hannity happened to be on the radio interviewing her. By this time, she was pretty much already yesterday's news and the only people who were paying her much attention were commentators on the Right who sought to capitalize on her being such a freak. I won't say she sounded "rational" in the interview - but she at least sounded like she was in control of her behavior and of the words she uttered. She even went so far as to apologize for some of the rash, "non-productive" words she had spoken in the past - i.e. for her flying off the handle in an emotionalistic rage. It was VERY obvious that someone had "gotten to" her and made her take some courses on how to conduct oneself in public and in an interview. Listening to her speak, it sounded to me a bit forced and awkward. My guess is it was an attempt to try and bring the cameras and spotlight back. I think she would have done anything to bring the cameras back. Heck, I am sure she proabably would have appeared in a porno magazine by now had she any odds greater than Janet Reno or Madeline Albright of that ever happening.
Cindy Sheehan thought the media and the Lefitist political operatives were her friends. They weren't. Such people - at least when they are funcioning in that capacity - are not capable of friendship. For them, other people are but a means to an end for a news story or some political agenda. The media and the political operatives used her in the same way she exploited the memory of her son. So there is at least some justice in the world for such people.
