Thus since statism is inevitable, we should stop bitching and be thankful that we are getting a watered down version."

If Clinton is elected - well, there are a lot of people in both parties who HATE her and will oppose her policies. If Obama is elected - well, his credibility with the electorate is also on the wane and will eventually be shot once it is put to the test in office and I think there will be strong opposition to him as well.

Don't forget that HillaryHealthCare was defeated in spite of a Democratic President and Democratic Congress - and it led to the Republican takeover, an opportunity to do something substantial in terms of cutting back the welfare state that the Republicans quickly blew.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19129587.post-23962069577817052432008-03-27T14:31:00.000-07:002008-03-27T14:31:00.000-07:00If you decide to abstain, Ryan the Egoist, be sure...If you decide to abstain, Ryan the Egoist, be sure to take the time to vote, just don't vote for President. Then your non-vote shows up in the statistics. If you stay home without voting at all, then you are dismissed as apathetic and uninvolved.

Abstention is perfectly honorable -- and it's looking like an excellent choice this year.Myrhafhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16340507405537605164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19129587.post-87464984815363994872008-03-27T10:35:00.000-07:002008-03-27T10:35:00.000-07:00A good response, Gideon. He's only going to give true supporters of Capitalism and self defense a bad name. The Dems will have another chance to say " Look, this is where free markets get us " thus making the Socialist fervor even more voracious. This is the first election I'm eligible to vote in and I don't think I'm going to. I used to want to gridlock the system by voting in the Republican candidate with a Democrat congress but McCain is the great compromiser. Much like Bush I'm sure he'll pass through just about every bill. The Motorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11286524432064932736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19129587.post-48263409738785116392008-03-27T10:27:00.000-07:002008-03-27T10:27:00.000-07:00Ed,I simply don't buy this kind of argument anymor...Ed,
I simply don't buy this kind of argument anymore. That's the kind of reasoning I used to convince myself to vote for Bush during the last election. I honestly believe that a Democrat could not have done worse. Yes, Democrats talk rather compromised socialist talk to their base and yes if they will get elected they will do much damage but so will McCain and McCain will do it in the name of Conservatism and free markets. At least with the Democrats there's at least the chance of an opposition. Right now, when we try to say we support a strong policy of self-defense or laissez faire capitalism, we immediately have to give a long speech distinguishing these from what the Republicans have been doing for the last 8 years and even then many don't believe us.

GideonGideonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02806423185226885594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19129587.post-74022496264331760802008-03-27T02:38:00.000-07:002008-03-27T02:38:00.000-07:00Ryan,I am by no means calling McCain a savior, or ...Ryan,
I am by no means calling McCain a savior, or even average.
